Shaver Hits for Cycle as Mustangs Roll Past Range Riders
May 23, 2026

One night after suffering their first loss of the season, the Billings Mustangs (4-1) returned the favor in a 22-7 rout of the Glacier Range Riders (4-1) on Saturday night at Dehler Park.

A.J. Shaver led the offensive with five hits on his way to hitting for the cycle, becoming the first Mustang to accomplish the feat since Jack O'Dowd on May 31, 2025 in Idaho Falls.

Adam Cootway also had a huge night at the plate, blasting two home runs and adding a pair of doubles while driving in five.

Offense came early and often as each team scored in each of the first three innings.

The Range Riders actually held leads of 2-0 and 3-1 in the first two frames, but a five-run third gave the Mustangs an 8-4 lead that they never let up.

Despite all of the early scoring, neither team crossed the plate from the fourth through sixth innings.

Glacier had a chance to tighten the gap in the top of the seventh with the bases loaded and two outs, but C.J. Colyer came in and induced a fly ball to right off the bat of Logan Beard to end the inning with the tying run at the plate.

The Mustangs then broke the game open with an eight-run seventh inning before adding six more runs in the eighth.

All six eighth inning tallies came against a position player, as the Range Riders brought their second baseman, Beard, in to pitch.

Carlos Anziani (2-0) earned the win for Billings after 2.2 scoreless frames while Aidan Elfering (0-1) took the loss for Glacier.

The victory gave the Mustangs their first home win of the year and set up the rubber match against the the Range Riders on Sunday with both teams sitting at 4-1. First pitch is scheduled for 1:05 pm.
