Jun 3, 2026

The Billings Mustangs (11-2) swept a doubleheader against the Great Falls Voyagers (4-10) on Wednesday night at Voyager Stadium, extending their winning streak to seven games while remaining atop the Pioneer League standings.

After back-to-back postponements due to rain, the Mustangs returned to action by taking game one 9-2 before earning a 4-3 knockout-round victory in game two. Both games of the doubleheader were seven innings.

In the opener, Julian Garcia turned in the first complete game by a Mustangs pitcher this season, allowing just two runs across all seven innings. It marked Garcia's third career complete game and second against Great Falls.

Billings broke the game open with a five-run sixth inning. Charlie Muniz highlighted the frame with a three-run homer, his fifth long ball of the season. Michael Soper also homered in the win with a solo shot in the third.

Garcia (2-0) picked up the win while Jordan Hamberg (0-3) took the loss for Great Falls.

In game two, the Mustangs grabbed an early lead on a Cam Yuran RBI double in the second before Yuran added an RBI groundout in the fourth to make it 2-1.

Hudson Boncal delivered a strong outing for Billings, allowing one run on three hits while striking out a career-high nine across five innings in a no-decision.

Great Falls took their first lead of the day in the sixth inning when Ethan Ott connected on a two-run homer to put the Voyagers ahead 3-2. The Mustangs answered immediately in the seventh as A.J. Shaver launched a game-tying solo homer on the first pitch of the inning.

Nate Roof stranded the bases loaded in the ninth to keep the game tied at three and force a knockout round.

Shaver then delivered the decisive moment, blasting four consecutive home runs after being down to his final out in the knockout round. Great Falls' Kyle Schmack was unable to answer, giving Shaver the 4-0 knockout victory and the Mustangs the doubleheader sweep.

The Mustangs and Voyagers conclude their three-game series on Thursday night at Voyager Stadium. Lefty Jackson Betancourt is expected to start for Billings against Great Falls right-hander Sam Lavin. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 pm.
