The Billings Mustangs (15-3) rallied from an early three-run deficit in a 6-4 win over the Glacier Range Riders (12-7) on Tuesday night at Dehler Park.
Glacier struck first with two runs in the opening inning, including a leadoff home run by Drew Collins. Carson Garner added a solo homer to lead off the second and give the Range Riders a 3-0 lead.
Billings starter Julian Garcia settled in after the early damage, holding Glacier scoreless over the next five innings while turning in a seven-inning quality start.
Kyle Micklus put the Mustangs on the board with an RBI groundout in the third inning. Glacier starter Aidan Elfering limited the Mustangs to just three hits through the first four innings.
Billings broke through against the right-hander in the fifth inning, scoring four runs on five hits to take the lead. A.J. Shaver tied the game with a two-run homer before Adam Cootway put the Mustangs ahead with a two-run shot of his own later in the inning.
The Mustangs added another run in the sixth when Shaver dropped down a bunt that allowed Bodee Wright to score from third, extending the lead to 6-3.
Glacier trimmed the deficit to two in the eighth inning on a pinch-hit solo home run by Logan Beard.
Carlos Anziani worked the ninth inning and stranded runners at second and third by striking out Tommy Rover to earn his first save of the season.
Garcia (3-0) earned the victory as Elfering (2-2) suffered the loss.
The Mustangs and Range Riders continue their series on Wednesday night at Dehler Park. Right-hander Hudson Boncal is expected to start for Billings against Glacier right-hander Jonah Giblin. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 pm.
