The Billings Mustangs (34-11) stormed back from an early six-run deficit to defeat the Idaho Falls Chukars (15-31) on Friday night at Melaleuca Field, opening a six-game road trip with a 13-7 victory.
Idaho Falls jumped out to a 6-0 lead through the first three innings before the Mustangs offense came alive.
Billings began its comeback in the fourth inning when Bodee Wright launched a grand slam, his eighth home run of the season and the Mustangs' third grand slam of the year. One batter later, A.J. Shaver went back-to-back with his 14th home run of the season, cutting the deficit to 6-5.
The Mustangs completed the comeback in the sixth, sending 11 batters to the plate while scoring seven runs to seize a 12-6 advantage.
Cole Calnon (5-1) earned the win, keeping his team in the game until the offense could rally. Josh Leerssen (3-5) suffered the loss for the Chukars.
The victory improved the Mustangs to 4-0 at Melaleuca Field this season and 11-2 against the Chukars in 2026, clinching the season series with eight meetings still remaining.
The three-game series continues Saturday night in Idaho Falls. Right-hander True McEvoy is scheduled to start for Billings against Seth Spencer of the Chukars. First pitch is set for 7:05 pm.
