Mustangs Drop Rubber Match to Range Riders
May 24, 2026

The Billings Mustangs (4-2) dropped the rubber game of their three-game series with the Glacier Range Riders (5-1) on Sunday afternoon, falling 5-2 at Dehler Park.

One night after erupting for 22 runs, the Mustangs offense was kept in check by Glacier starter Jonah Giblin. The right-hander retired nine consecutive Billings hitters at one point and held the Mustangs off the board through the first five innings.

Glacier built an early advantage and carried a 4-0 lead into the sixth before Charlie Muniz put Billings on the board with a solo home run. The blast snapped Giblin's streak of nine straight retired and marked Muniz's first long ball of the season.

Two batters later, C.J. Valdez launched a no-doubt solo shot to left field to trim the deficit to 4-2. It was also the first home run of the year for Valdez.

The Range Riders added an unearned insurance run in the eighth inning to extend the lead back to three runs.

David Hankins (0-1) suffered the loss in his Mustangs debut after allowing four runs across 4.2 innings while Giblin (2-0) earned the victory for the Range Riders.

Former Mustang Jack Maruskin closed the door for Glacier in the ninth, tossing a perfect inning to earn the save.

The Mustangs continue their nine-game homestand on Tuesday night as they welcome the Idaho Falls Chukars to Dehler Park to begin a six-game series. Julian Garcia is scheduled to start for Billings. First pitch is set for 6:35 pm.
