May 29, 2026

The Billings Mustangs (8-2) rallied on Friday night for their fourth straight victory, winning 11-10 over the Idaho Falls Chukars (1-9) to clinch the six-game series at Dehler Park with two games still to play.

The win also guaranteed Billings a winning homestand as the Mustangs have won five of the first seven in their nine in a row stretch at Dehler Park.

The Mustangs opened the scoring with a run in the first when Michael Soper tripled and later scored on an infield single by Charlie Muniz. After the Chukars tied the game in the third, the Mustangs answered with three runs in the bottom half, highlighted by an RBI double from Kyle Micklus and a run-scoring triple by A.J. Shaver.

Idaho Falls surged ahead with a six-run fourth inning to take a 7-4 lead, but the Mustangs chipped away before retaking the lead in the sixth. Sean Lynch, in the starting lineup for the first time this season, delivered an RBI double before Shaver launched a go-ahead two-run homer to put Billings in front 9-8.

The Chukars tied the game again in the seventh, but John McHenry helped the Mustangs answer immediately as he delivered a pinch-hit RBI single. A second run also scored on the play as a result of a Chukars error, giving the Mustangs an 11-9 lead.

Idaho Falls pulled within one in the eighth, but strong defense from Cameron Bowen helped preserve the lead before Nate Roof stranded the tying run at second base in the ninth to earn his third save in as many opportunities.

Ritter Steinmann (2-0) earned the win in relief for the Mustangs while Mason Collins (0-1) suffered the loss for the visiting Chukars.

The Mustangs and Chukars continue their series on Saturday night at Dehler Park. Harry Orth is expected to start for Billings against Josh Leersson of Idaho Falls. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 pm.
