Mustangs Break It Open Early, Clinch Series
Jul 11, 2026

The Billings Mustangs (35-11) secured another series victory with a 16-8 win over the Idaho Falls Chukars (15-32) on Saturday night at Melaleuca Field.

The Mustangs wasted little time getting on the board. Sean Lynch launched a two-run homer in the first inning, his fourth of the season, to give Billings an early 2-0 lead.

Idaho Falls threatened to answer immediately, loading the bases with nobody out in the bottom of the first. True McEvoy limited the damage to just one run, preserving the Mustangs' lead at 2-1.

Billings added another run in the second before breaking the game open in the third. The Mustangs sent 13 batters to the plate and scored eight runs in the inning to build an 11-1 advantage.

The Chukars chipped away with a run in the third and two runs in each of the sixth, seventh and eighth innings, but the Mustangs continued to answer. Billings scored three times in the seventh before adding one run in both the eighth and ninth innings to secure the victory.

Making his second start with Billings, True McEvoy improved to 2-0 after allowing just two runs on three hits over five innings.

The win improved the Mustangs to 5-0 at Melaleuca Field this season and clinched the weekend series after taking the first two games. Billings has now won 12 of 14 games against Idaho Falls this year.

The Mustangs will look to complete the three-game sweep on Sunday afternoon. Eddie Kaftan is scheduled to make his Billings debut with first pitch set for 2:00 pm.
