Muniz Delivers Walk-Off as Mustangs Take Series
Jul 9, 2026

The Billings Mustangs (33-11) scored four runs in the bottom of the ninth inning to stun the Red Pocket Mobiles (10-35), earning a 6-5 walk-off victory on Thursday night at Dehler Park and taking two of three games in the series.

Billings opened the scoring in the third inning when Bodee Wright led off with a triple, his seventh of the season, and scored on an A.J. Shaver sacrifice fly. The RBI was Shaver's league-leading 67th of the year.

The Mobiles broke through in the fifth inning against Jaden Harris, scoring three times to take a 3-1 lead after being held in check through the early innings.

The Mustangs answered with a run in the sixth to pull within a run, but Red Pocket extended its advantage in the seventh when Jordan Harrison-Dudley launched a two-run homer to make it 5-2.

That score held until the ninth.

After Lucas Hartman tossed a scoreless top of the inning, the Mustangs mounted a dramatic rally against Red Pocket reliever Wyatt Adams. Jacob Gutierrez drew a leadoff walk before Sean Lynch singled with one out to bring the tying run to the plate. Following a Wright pop-out, Shaver worked a walk to load the bases.

Cameron Bowen then delivered a two-run single on the first pitch he saw, cutting the deficit to 5-4. A wild pitch moved the runners into scoring position before Michael Soper drew a walk to load the bases once again.

Down to his final strike, Charlie Muniz then ripped a ground ball through the left side. The ball skipped past shortstop Spence Coffman and into left field, allowing two runs to score and giving the Mustangs a 6-5 walk-off victory. Red Pocket argued the ball had struck Bowen, the runner at second base, but after a conference the umpires upheld the call and the game-winning hit stood.

The walk-off was Billings' second of the season, with Muniz delivering the winning knock in both games.

The Mustangs next head to Idaho Falls to begin a three-game series against the Chukars on Friday night. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 pm.
