The Billings Mustangs (31-11) dropped the opener of their three-game series against the Red Pocket Mobiles (10-33) by an 8-3 final on Tuesday night at Dehler Park.
The game marked the first ever meeting between the two teams.
After three scoreless innings to start the game, the Mobiles broke through in the fourth, scoring five runs against Mustangs starter Julian Garcia. Red Pocket added another run in the fifth to expand their lead to 6-0.
Billings got on the board in the bottom of the fifth when Bodee Wright launched his sixth home run of the season, marking his second consecutive game with a long ball.
The Mustangs added another run in the sixth on back-to-back doubles by Patrick Mills and Jacob Gutierrez before the two had consecutive knocks in the eighth to score yet again. Billings, however, was unable to string together the big inning they needed to erase their deficit.
Blayne Huter (2-0) earned the win for the Mobiles, allowing just three runs over 7.1 innings against one of the league's highest scoring offenses.
Garcia (5-1) suffered his first loss of the season after allowing six runs over 5.1 innings.
The Mustangs and Mobiles continue their three-game series on Wednesday night. First pitch from Dehler Park is set for 6:35 pm.
